Bohuš Kubinský
The Danube Flowers, 2024
STEEL
While sailing past Drobeta-Turnu Severin near the Iron Gate strait, Bohuš Kubinský saw old ship propellers along the Serbian bank of the Danube, gleaming in the sun or rusted, resembling massive flowers. This sight inspired the Danube Flowers project, a system of three kinetic interactive sculptures made from discarded propellers. Focused on ecology, the project emphasizes recycling, local production, and minimal transportation, transforming the once-forgotten metal into beautiful, interactive art at Mona Farm in Australia, where visitors breathe new life into the sculptures.
